Wearing the wrong socks can make the most perfect fitting shoes feel extremely uncomfortable. Socks should fit snugly without being too tight and affecting foot or ankle circulation. Loose socks tend to bunch, wrinkle and rub. Blisters and sores can form in less than an hour, causing poor performance. Overstretched socks do not adhere to the leg and drag downward. This can be very distracting, especially in standby situations where standing for long periods of time is required.
