When shoes are not high enough, turn to men’s hiking boots for added foot and ankle protection. Steel-toed boots and thick soles help feet resist the punishment of running and climbing over uneven surfaces. Obstacles like rocks, sticks, rubble and rebar require tough coverings for footwear performance.
For added protection, tactical boots have stronger material on the outside to prevent punctures and abrasions. Some types have special treatment on inside materials to prevent friction against socks while moving. Most are made with breathable lining that keeps feet comfortable and reduces moisture.
For all-terrain and long-term wear, military boots provide lasting foot protection. They should be strong and durable to prevent injuries, but not heavy enough to slow down or fatigue anyone wearing them. Interior panels should breathe, be water-resistant and perhaps treated with anti-microbial chemicals to prevent mold or infection from unwanted bacteria.
